A leading authority on the effects of Lithium on cells,
being recent past chair of the Biomedical Research
Laboratory in Wolverhampton. He has edited several texts
on "lithium and the cell" as well as authoring over 50
papers on the subject of lithium and cellular chemistry.
Professor Michael Guiry
Director of Martin Ryan Marine Research Institute.
National University of Ireland, Galway: Marine Botanist
Professor Guiry is a marine botanist, with over 150 papers
to his name on taxonomy, life histories, biodiversity,
photoperiodism, molecular biology and commercial
utilisation of marine organisms. He is the President of
the International Phycological Society and Editor in Chief
of Phycologia, the journal of the International
Phycological Society. He is a member of the Royal Irish
Academy and was a member of the Ministerial Task Force to

Professor James Hill, Ph.D.
Professor of Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, Microbiology
and Neuroscience, RPB Senior Scientific Investigator, LSU
Eye and Vision Center of Excellence
Prof. Hill received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology at Baylor
College of Medicine and did a postdoctoral fellowship in
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Harvard Medical
School and Massachusetts General Hospital. His primary
research interests over the last 25 years have involved
visual science, pharmacology, virology, and neuroscience.
He has developed and utilised unique ocular drug delivery
systems such as ocular iontophoresis and corneal collagen
shields. He developed the first reliable and efficient
means to induce ocular herpes virus reactivation and
recurrent corneal disease. His primary research goal is to
develop chemotherapy to prevent the irreversible scarring
that occurs as a consequence of bacterial and viral
infections.
Dr. Hill is a member of the Editorial Board of Current Eye
Research and Ocular Infection and Hygiene.
Professor Camille Ripoll

des Sciences et des Techniques de l'Universite de Rouen,
France
Professor Ripoll is a leading authority on the study of
intracellular ion distributions in biological systems. He
has access to one of very few Secondary Ion Spectroscopes
(SIMS) in Europe. His group is experienced in the SIMS
imaging of biological samples. He has an academic interest
in intracellular ion distribution and cellular
transduction networks and has authored numerous papers on
the subject.
Professor Ronald Roberts
FRCVS, FRCpath, FRSE
